EXPERIENCE IN YOUR INDUSTRY

THE WORK.
THE RESULTS.

WHAT WE UNDERSTAND ABOUT PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

TRUST FIRST.
THEN TIMING.

Accountants, lawyers, advisers and consultants are chosen by people who are anxious about choosing badly. The work is to be credible before the need arises and findable at the moment it does.

Referral still does most of the work

Most firms win their best clients through referral. Marketing’s first job is to make the referred person’s research reassuring, not to replace the relationship that sent them.

People buy the practitioner, not the practice

Biographies, experience, memberships and the way a problem is explained carry more weight than a brand statement. The partner’s voice is the asset; an agency voice undoes it.

Matter value varies enormously

A simple will and a commercial dispute arrive through the same enquiry form. Without qualification, the diary fills with the least valuable work and the partners notice before the report does.

Regulated advertising is a real constraint

Legal, financial and advice services carry professional conduct and advertising rules covering claims, comparisons, testimonials and outcomes. They differ by profession and by state, and they shape what marketing is allowed to say.

THE DETAIL THAT DECIDES THE RESULT

INTENT, PROOF.
AND THE RULES.

Four things that decide a professional services account, and what we do with each.

People search the matter, not the category

Buyers type the problem rather than “law firm” or “accountant”. They search for unfair dismissal, a Division 7A loan, selling a business, a contract dispute. The firms that win are the ones that have published the answer to the specific question.

How we use it

We build and rank a page per matter or service with a clear next step, and run paid search only on the matters worth the click. Broad category terms are left alone: they are expensive, they attract comparison shoppers and they rarely convert to an engaged matter.

The first-meeting offer sets client quality

An unqualified free consultation attracts people shopping for free advice. A structured, screened or paid first meeting attracts people ready to engage, and it protects the most expensive hour in the firm.

How we use it

We test the offer as carefully as the ad: what the meeting covers, who it suits, what it costs. Forms ask about matter type, timing and situation, and enquiries that are not a fit get a helpful redirect instead of a follow-up call.

Compliance and claim rules

Professional conduct rules restrict testimonials, comparisons and success claims, financial services carry their own advice and disclosure obligations, and some jurisdictions restrict advertising for particular matter types altogether.

How we use it

We confirm the applicable rules with the firm’s principal or compliance contact before drafting, keep a record of approved claims, and build proof from credentials, process transparency and anonymised matter narratives rather than outcomes. Nothing goes live that the firm cannot defend.

Referrals, calls and brand search muddy attribution

A referred prospect often arrives through a brand search, which the platform then takes credit for. Firms routinely over-invest in the channel that was merely last to be touched.

How we use it

Brand and non-brand are always separated, calls are tracked, and intake asks how the person heard about the firm. The referral network is measured and supported as a channel in its own right rather than treated as luck.

HOW WE RUN A PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ACCOUNT

BE CREDIBLE.
BE THE FIRST CALL.

Built to be the firm a referred prospect is relieved to find, and the one an active searcher can actually understand.

Publish the expertise

A page per matter and service written in the principal’s voice, answering the question people actually type. It is also what a referred prospect reads before they call.

SEO · Content · Partner voice

Capture the active matters

Paid search on the matters with genuine value and intent, mapped to the right page, with call tracking and a form that qualifies matter type and timing.

Google Ads · Landing pages

Stay visible between needs

LinkedIn, email and the occasional briefing for people who will need you in a year, and for the accountants, brokers and advisers who send work your way.

LinkedIn · Email · Referrer marketing

Run intake properly

Enquiries into a CRM with matter type, source and next action, a response measured in hours rather than days, and a nurture track for matters that are real but not yet urgent.

CRM · Intake · Nurture

Report on matters and fees

Enquiries by matter type, conversion to engagement and fee value by source. Budget follows the work the firm actually wants more of.

Attribution · Reporting

Everything published is reviewed by the firm before it runs. Where professional rules limit what can be said, the rules win and we find another way to make the case.

WHAT THE WORK TAUGHT US

WE GOT IT WRONG.
WE CHANGED IT.

Three corrections that changed how we run these accounts.

We treated client quotes as ordinary proof

On an early engagement we drafted marketing using client testimonials without checking the profession’s advertising rules closely enough. The firm’s own review caught it, which is not where it should have been caught.

What we do now

Claims, testimonials and comparisons are checked against the applicable professional rules before drafting rather than after. We keep an approved-claims list per client and build proof from process, credentials and anonymised matter detail.

We sold a free consultation too hard

A free-consult offer tripled enquiries and halved conversion to engagement. Partners spent their week giving advice to people who never intended to instruct anyone.

What we do now

We qualify before the meeting and design the first conversation with the firm. Fewer, better-prepared enquiries are the objective, and we report conversion to engaged matter rather than enquiry count.

We optimised towards brand search

A campaign looked excellent because it was capturing people who had already been referred. The firm was paying to close business it had already won.

What we do now

Brand and non-brand are split in every report. Brand is defended cheaply; growth is judged on non-brand demand and on referral activity we can see.

WHERE WE SIT

PROVEN HERE.
NOT ONLY HERE.

Solar, manufacturing and trades are our deepest industries. Professional services is a proven one, and the buying behaviour is closer than it looks: considered, referral-led and trust-first.

We bring the discipline, you bring the expertise

We do not pretend to practise your profession. We build the demand, the pages, the intake and the reporting around the expertise already in the firm.

We work inside your professional rules

Compliance is a design constraint from the first draft, not a legal review bolted on at the end of a campaign.

A small, senior team

The people who plan the work also run it, which matters when the writing has to sound like a principal rather than an agency.

WHAT IT IS WORTH

One matter can fund the year
We size the work against your average matter or engagement value and your conversion rate, not against generic lead benchmarks from unrelated industries.
Partner time protected
Qualifying before the first meeting is usually worth more than extra enquiries, because it gives back the scarcest resource in the firm.
Content that keeps working
Matter pages rank, get forwarded and reassure referred prospects for years after they are written.
Right fit

Firms with a defined specialisation, a partner willing to put their expertise on the page, and an intake process that responds the same day.

Not the right fit

Firms wanting volume enquiries regardless of matter type, anyone seeking claims their professional rules do not allow, and practices with no capacity for new clients.
